Mind Over Matter

When I tell other people about ThetaHealing®, I find that it is easier to grasp its fundamentals by explaining two things: the Law of Attraction and the power of the mind. This is what this blog post is about.

The Law of Attraction
Numerous books have been written about this universal law in the last century. A couple of examples I can give are "Your Invisible Power" by Genevieve Behrend and "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. But its popularity rose with the book and movie "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne in 2006. Since then, more and more books, blogs, videos and websites have been created towards the subject.

The Law of Attraction is a universal law which states that what you think, you create.

Universal laws are without bias, they work each and every time to each and every one of us. You can deny it, refuse to work with it or disprove it, but it will nevertheless work the way it's supposed to. Take the law of gravity, for example. Two people can jump off the edge of a building or cliff (morbid, I know, but a perfect example nonetheless) and both of them will fall. Gravity will not make a judgment and say "Okay, the girl is the one who will fall." or "The one on the right is the nicer person, he shall float." Nope. Gravity pulls both of them towards the center of the earth, and thus, both of them falls to the ground.

In the same way, you can deny or disprove the law of attraction, but it will always work in your life the way it's supposed to. That is, you create in your reality the thought which you put energy into on a subconscious level. The subconscious mind is so powerful that it ALWAYS makes real the thoughts, beliefs and programs that you hold in this level.

The Power of the Mind
Your mind is so much more powerful than any supercomputer ever known to man. It is made up of 2 components - the conscious and the subconscious.

The CONSCIOUS mind makes up 12% of your mind, and is responsible for logic, analysis, calculation and decision making.

The SUBCONSCIOUS mind makes up the remaining 88%, and is responsible for 2 main functions:
  1. It is the storage space for all memories, experiences, beliefs, thoughts, programs, skills and even images you have seen and gone through in your lifetime.
  2. It serves as your "autopilot". Because it holds all of what you have seen and experienced, it automatically triggers certain feelings or thoughts when you face a new situation. For example, if you are going to ride a roller coaster, your subconscious mind will retrieve memories from a similar previous experience, and will dictate how you would feel or react when you get into the ride this time. It also controls your body's involuntary functions. What if you have to remember to breathe or have your heart beat everytime?!

How do the conscious and subconscious mind work together?
Your conscious mind DECIDES what memories, thoughts, beliefs, etc. to store in your subconscious mind. The subconscious, on the other hand, does not do any of the "thinking". Its main purpose is to keep you "safe" by storing and retrieving programmed responses so that when faced with a similar situation, you will react to it in a manner that will preserve your familiarity with it.

Because the subconscious mind does not "think," it works in accordance to certain rules:
  • The subconscious mind does not differentiate between reality and your imagination. If you are to do a speech and you visualize that it goes well, your subconscious takes it as the reality and thus will bring that outcome in physicality.
  • The subconscious mind does not recognize the word NOT. If you say "I don't want to be late for work," then guess what? Your subconscious mind only hears the word "late" and makes it real for you. Think, then, about how we sabotage ourselves whenever we think of what we want (i.e., in a partner) and we say the things we do NOT want! ("I want a partner who does NOT smoke, does NOT cheat, etc.")
  • The subconscious mind brings what you expect in the now. When you say you WANT something, that's what your subconscious brings you -- THE STATE OF WANTING, therefore, not having.
  • The subconscious mind attracts proofs of what you firmly believe in. Have you ever noticed that when you feel annoyed, one situation after another just seems to come up to annoy you all the more?
  • The more conscious effort you put into something, the less subconscious response is required. This can be best attributed to one's attachment towards achieving something, which is an entire story all in itself. I will have an entire blog post on attachment in the near future. Let's look at a simple example for now. How many times have have you looked all over the place for something you misplaced, only for that thing to show up when you have stopped searching?
  • Finally, your subconscious mind will always win when in conflict with your conscious mind. If you're applying to get your dream job and you have some fears and doubts about whether or not you will get it, there is a higher probability that you will not get it no matter how much you consciously tell yourself "No, that's not true. I will get that job!"
To sum it all up, our subconscious mind is very powerful that if you are able to retrain it, you can make the Law of Attraction work in your life to your favor.... all the time! ThetaHealing® is the only technique I know of that can help you retrain your subconscious mind instantly.
