Bargaining with the Universe

There's one phenomena that's been sweeping the Philippines for many years now: BAZAARS.

It used to be that bazaars are set up only during the Christmas season. Now, they've been a staple shopping event or place anytime of the year! From gifts to clothes to shoes to bags to gadgets, most Filipinos tend to think of going to bazaars first before the mall in order to shop. Whether you're in the city or in the province, bazaars are just everywhere. Who wouldn't have heard of "tiangge" or "ukay-ukay" these days?

It's funny to observe how the usual scenario in a bazaar is very much like how we bargain with the universe in real life. Please don't get me wrong. I have always admired people who have a natural talent at saving money, and I'm not saying it's wrong to buy things at affordable prices. I am talking about how when it comes to the things we want in life - dream job, long-awaited vacation, the ideal partner - most of us tend to make do with the "lowest possible version" of what we want.

There are 2 ways most people bargain with the universe.

Settling for Something Less
In 2009, I quit what I would consider then to be the highest-paying job I ever had in my entire life. I took a blind leap of faith and thought I'd pursue my entrepreneurial dream full time.  As I mentioned previously, that didn't work out for me. So I did the only logical thing to do - look for a new job.

For several months, I was submitting job applications left and right and going to several job interviews, only to be declined everytime because my previous salary was too high. I only got accepted for a job when I mentioned that I was WILLING TO SETTLE for so much less of what I was getting paid. Since then, I found myself getting into jobs that would always pay me less than the last.

How many times has this happened to you? Not necessarily when looking for a job, but when going after something we want? This is what I would call in Tagalog the "puwede na yan" ("this will do") mentality.

We do this to ourselves more often than we realize.
"I really wanted the beige pair of shoes, but they only had my size in black. It's okay. At least I got new shoes."

"My new office is farther from home than my last job, but it's okay. At least they pay higher allowances."
"I was hoping my boss would approve my vacation for one week. But I got 3 days. It's okay. At least he didn't ask me to work from home."
What's worse is that before we even go for what we want, we have already bargained with ourselves with either-or options. "I'll buy a new laptop. Either I get one with a larger screen or a larger internal hard drive." Why can't you think of having both?

I Scratch Your Back, You Scratch Mine
Another way people bargain with the universe is through this general concept of karma. Most especially when it comes to bigger things that we want in life - a house, dream job, our soulmate - we tend to believe that if we do something out of goodwill, God or the universe will see our good nature and "give us" what we want. Even those who do not know or believe in "karma" still have an innate knowing that good things happen to good people.

This is something we all probably learned as children. Who hasn't been promised ice cream or a new toy or a party on your next birthday if you "behave"?

Why Do We Do This?
I am not a psychology expert, but being a student of ThetaHealing®, there are a few reasons I can outline to explain people's tendency to bargain:
  • Doubt and Fear. Most people feel that they have no control over what happens in their life, especially when it comes to the big things they want to have. We doubt if we're gonna get what we want. We fear someone might get there ahead of us. We're just NOT SURE.
  • We're not worthy enough. This is primarily why we feel we have to prove to the universe that we are deserving of what we want by doing something good.
  • Lack mentality. Most people feel there's not enough time or not enough options, which is why we settle with the "at least" or "either/or" versions of what we want. "I can't wait forever to take my much needed vacation, so I'd rather take a few days off now than wait until I get an entire month free!"
Do You Want to Change This?
If you would like to change this belief to have to bargain for what you want with the universe, let's go ahead and do that now.

Would you like to know how to live your day to day life without feeling the need to bargain with the universe? To know that you are allowed to and deserving to have what you want in life? That it is your divine birthright to get what you want, without having to do something to get it as a reward?
Would you like to remember from God's truth, definition and perspective what it feels like to be WORTHY? To know how to live your daily life being worthy? That you understand what it feels like to be worthy? That you are allowed to and it's safe to be worthy of the manifestations of all your desires? That you can have ALL of them? No either/or? No at least?

And would you like to remember that there's more than enough for everyone to go around? That ALL your desires can manifest just like everyone else's desires can? And that you have God's truth, definition and perspective of abundance? That you can live your daily life having all the options available to you? And that you are deserving and allowed to have all the available options in front of you to choose from?

Would you like to have all these feelings instilled in to your being, through every cell of your body?  On all your belief levels, across all time and space, for your highest and best, in the highest and best way? Without the need for drama or trauma, disease or illness, or the need to create or recreate any negative experiences for the purpose of validation or learning?

If you say YES to the questions above, congratulations! You have just allowed the power of ThetaHealing® to work in your life to change the program of bargaining with the universe! Go on an feel this energy work in your life from this moment on.
